The Black Book
Follow horses and get told when they run
A black book is a punter's list of horses to follow: the one that was unlucky, the one that ran better than the result, the one that needs softer ground. Ours is built into the form.
How do I add a horse?
- From the card: the small bookmark beside the horse's name. You need to be signed in, so it is not on the sample card.
- From a past race too: hover a result in the form table and press the bookmark at the top of the race that opens. Pick the horse you forgot last time.

What can I set?
- A reason, if you want one: troubled trip, hopelessly wide, against the bias, needed the run and so on.
- A note, so you remember why. Only you see it.
- For how long: every run, only the next run, or the next three.
- Alerts: an e-mail when the horse is entered to run, and the bell at the top of the site.
Where do I see my horses?
- On your Black Book page, where you can change or remove them.
- On the racecard itself: a horse from your list has a filled bookmark beside its name. Press it to read or change your note.

Do I have to pay?
No. The Black Book is free for everyone with an account. It is at its best inside the form, where your notes sit next to the runs they are about.
A good habit
After a day's racing, add the two or three horses you want to see again and write one line on each. A few weeks later the e-mails start arriving, and you already know what you thought.
See it on the card: open any racecard and press 📖 Tour at the top right. The tour points at each of these things in turn. Start the tour on the free sample card.
Want the thinking behind it? That is what the course is for. The Intro track is free; the full course is coming soon.
